Wetherlam View is a beautifully renovated, luxury chalet-style holiday home in the heart of Little Langdale, sleeping up to 8 guests (6 in the main house, with a further 2 in a separate annex). Thoughtfully restored with great care and attention, it combines contemporary comfort with timeless Lakeland character.
Dog-friendly and perfectly equipped for families or groups of friends, Wetherlam View offers a stylish yet practical base for exploring the Lake District. The property was once home to the landlord of the adjacent historic Three Shires Inn and sits just 300 metres from Lowfield House, our own family home.

Alfred Wainwright famously described the square mile between Tilberthwaite and Langdale as “one of the loveliest in Lakeland.” At its very centre lies the hamlet of Little Langdale, a truly special setting within the Lake District National Park and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Indeed, the Langdales were instrumental in the area receiving World Heritage status.
Wetherlam View enjoys an enviable position with outstanding access to some of the Lake District’s most iconic landscapes. From the doorstep, you are just a 15-minute walk from the dramatic Cathedral Cave and the picturesque Slater’s Bridge. Immediately next door is the historic Three Shires Inn, a welcoming, family-owned free house serving excellent local ales and hearty food.
A little further afield, yet still within easy walking distance, you will find:
Great Langdale, home to the Stickle Barn restaurant at the foot of Dungeon Ghyll, one of the main access points to the Langdale Pikes. Chapel Stile with its village shop, Post Office and the popular Wainwrights Inn. Elterwater offering the Britannia Inn, and Slate's Cafe & Kitchen. Skelwith Bridge, famous for Chesters café, restaurant and craft shop.
The vibrant towns of Grasmere, Ambleside, Windermere, Coniston and Hawkshead are all a short drive away, offering a wide range of shops, cafés, restaurants, traditional pubs and activity centures.
Whether you’re striding out onto the fells, cycling quiet country lanes, wild swimming in crystal-clear waters or simply pausing to enjoy the peace and stillness of this remarkable valley, Wetherlam View provides the perfect setting.
There are many fantastic places to eat and drink throughout the Lake District National Park. The Three Shires Inn, located next door in Little Langdale, but if you feel like venturing a little further afield, you’ll find a wide variety of eateries to tempt you.
